thanks for taking care of the spamer.

I was going crazy everytime I checked on the page to look for new posts and saw the highlighted topics, it was like "yay! there are news" and then realized they were all spam...

Probable new spam account: http://www.munyu.info/phpBB2/profile.ph ... file&u=846

I cleaned his posts, just reporting in case KiTa would want to do something more about it.

Yes, just few threads with obvious spam links. Should I kept them? I thought they were in the way.

EDIT: new account, same spam. This time I just moved post and kept them for you.

feel free to delete if you'd like, the only gatcha is that you canc lick on "IP" of a post and get hte IP. Like these guys, they're both posting from:

60.169.78.177

Which is an IP block in -- of course -- China. Which is now blocked.

I deleted new spam from IPs:
61.160.195.79
61.160.212.193

I looked in some spam IP database (this one: http://www.stopforumspam.com/downloads/) and all of them were present. It might be good idea to add their list to our IP filter if you want.

I'm definitely going to have to do something, looking at the member list about 10 new spam accounts signed up in the past 2 days. One even signed up while I was deleting the others.

I might have to risk updating the forum software tomorrow when I have a day off from work, or adding some form of registration moderation or question to the server, like "What is the name of our Group" or something.

Yeah, custom registration question might be good idea. I just hope they don't use people to solve them. Well, we'll see.

I have set it up so that you have to confirm your email when signing up for an account. Hopefully this will at least prune down some of these fake accounts, at the very least.
